Two Kids and a White Picket Fence

In the mid 1980s my then husband and I were on our way to our dream: two kids and a white picket fence! We were sad when a pregnancy did not come right away. In late 1984 I got my period again and then continued to bleed for a few weeks. After consultations I was scheduled for a laparoscopy to see what was going on and when I woke up I was informed I had had an ectopic pregnancy and my fallopian tube had been removed. The next day was a Saturday night a couple of weeks before Christmas and here I was in the hospital (old Halifax Infirmary) feeling blue about a variety of things related to this pregnancy and children. Soon I heard Christmas music and the Salvation Army Band was strolling the halls of the old Halifax Infirmary playing Christmas music. Well that music picked me right up. I am so grateful for that musical intervention in my life at that time.

I went on to have two wonderful children. Life is good.
